Sarawak Tourism Board

Sarawak Tourism Board was incorporated under the Sarawak Tourism Board (Incorporation) Ordinance, dated 12 November 1994. The objective of STB is to achieve in increasing tourist arrivals into the state, to create awareness among the trade, media, and public on the diversity of Sarawak in terms of tourism products, both regional and international, and position Sarawak as a prime destination for culture, adventure, nature, food and festival.

Sarawak Tourism Board is the key promoter for Sarawak and manages the promotion and marketing of the destination on behalf of Sarawak’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and working alongside with Tourism Malaysia. The Board’s goal is to continue raising the awareness of the destination of increasing arrivals to the state.

It also targets primarily the domestic market and the international markets. STB has received a number of accolades, the most recent being the BrandLaureate World BestBrands Award Destination Branding” (2019) and PATA Gold Award Marketing Travel Video for “Why Limit Yourself”.

Other awards over the years have included the Asia Pacific Excellence Awards in 2018 and 2016 by the Asia-Pacific Association of Communications Directors (APACD), as well as the Travel Journal Awards in 2017 for the ‘Best for Nature’ category at the ASEAN Tourism Forum. Its renowned Rainforest World Music Festival has become a five-time Top 25 Best International Festivals recognised by Songlines world music magazine (2011 – 2015).
